Why They Want to Substitute Teach

I’m currently pursuing my master’s degree and initial teaching certification through an online graduate program, so substitute teaching is a great opportunity for me to gain hands-on experience in the classroom while completing my studies. I really enjoy working with students and getting to know different school and classroom environments. I appreciate how substitute teaching allows me to learn something new, build my skills, and continue growing as an educator as I work toward becoming a full-time teacher.

About Them

I’d describe myself as curious, creative, and someone who really enjoys learning and connecting with others. Reading and writing have always been a huge part of my life, from my career as a professional writer and journalist to now working toward becoming an ELA teacher. Outside of work and school, I enjoy playing and coaching soccer, reading, and spending time with my family and friends. I really value kindness, empathy, and learning from people with different backgrounds and experiences. I believe diversity makes a school community stronger, and that every student deserves to feel welcomed, supported, and excited to learn.

Experience with Children

I have previous experience as a substitute teacher at both the elementary and middle school levels, where I’ve worked with students of different ages and learning needs. I also work as an English Language Arts (ELA) tutor, helping students strengthen their reading and writing skills. In addition, I have experience babysitting, coaching, and caring for children of different ages.
