Why They Want to Substitute Teach
I find such joy and inspiration working with children and teens. With my experience as an art teacher and a clinical social worker, I hope to bring in creativity and social-emotional learning to my work with kids and teens alike, honoring the whole child and supporting them as they find their path in the world.
About Them
I love art, reading, cooking, running, and spending time with both my human and animal friends! I deeply value creativity, curiosity, reflection, and learning, which has drawn me to my work with children over the years. My work with children, in turn, has nurtured these values in me.
Experience with Children
I started babysitting when I was 10 years old and continued babysitting as primary income through college. I was a full time nanny for one year after college and taught art at a community center to children. I then worked as an English teacher in Spain for one year at a middle school and high school. I moved on to work as an art teacher at a small co-op teaching art for five years to kids age 5-14. Once I received my MSW, I worked at a pediatric clinic as a therapist.
