Why They Want to Substitute Teach

I want to be a substitute teacher because I enjoy working with students and creating a positive, supportive classroom environment. As someone currently completing my bachelor’s degree in Secondary English Education, I see substitute teaching as a great opportunity to continue developing my classroom management and instructional skills while gaining experience working with different students and grade levels. I am dependable, adaptable, and comfortable stepping into new environments. Most importantly, I want to make sure students continue to have a productive and positive learning experience even when their regular teacher is absent.

About Them

I enjoy reading and recently got a Kindle, which I have loved because it gives me access to so many books at once. Outside of reading, I love spending time with my fiancé and our golden retriever, Bailey. We enjoy going on walks, spending time outdoors, and making the most of our time together. I am also currently in the process of applying to the University of Michigan for my master’s degree, where I hope to focus on Educational Leadership.

Experience with Children

I have over five years of experience working with children in a variety of settings, including as a full-time nanny, house manager, substitute teacher, teacher assistant, and educator. As a nanny, I have cared for children while managing daily routines, transportation, activities, homework, meals, and household responsibilities. My education and experience in the classroom have also given me a strong understanding of child development, communication, patience, and creating a safe and supportive environment for children to learn and grow.
