Why They Want to Substitute Teach
I want to get as much access to a classroom as possible, take in information about teaching techniques, lesson planning, classroom management, student dispositions etc. I also love teaching in general, no matter how I get to do it. I conducted advanced international research at UIUC, but my favorite part of the job was always teaching and designing a new class.
About Them
I am addicted to exercise and I love playing ultimate frisbee. I read constantly on current affairs and history and philosophy. I am a permanent student of Chinese and Japanese. I study and practice one way or another every day. I think that every student has individual talents, unique competencies that they often are only barely aware of. One of the most important goals in education is to allow each students to not only be consciously aware of those talents, but to be able to measure them. Once a student know their talents, they can then be taught how to approach those things they struggle with, and leverage their talents to the task of improving their struggles.
Experience with Children
I was a student teacher in my time at Alabama while pursuing a degree in education for seventh graders. I have also tutored and taught English in China and Taiwan. I have been a teaching assistant and an instructor at the University of Illinois for college students
