Why They Want to Substitute Teach
I want to be a substitute teacher because I genuinely enjoy working with students and helping them stay on track, even when their regular teacher is away. My background as an Instructional Student Assistant and tutor has shown me how much students benefit from consistency and a supportive presence in the classroom, and I want to be that steady, dependable person for them.
About Them
I'm an organized, dependable person who enjoys mentoring and helping others learn. Outside of work, I love cooking, dancing, listening to music, and going for walks. I also value spending quality time with friends and family. I care about patience, community, and building genuine connections with the people I work with.
Experience with Children
I have over five years of experience working with children and young adults in both after-school and academic settings. As a Student Tutor and Program Assistant at Kings Canyon Middle School's after-school program, I provided individualized tutoring to middle school students in core subjects, led structured enrichment activities, and helped supervise students to maintain a safe and positive environment. More recently, as an Instructional Student Assistant at Fresno State, I planned and delivered lesson content, led class sessions, and graded student work for university-level courses, while also training and mentoring incoming assistants. Across these roles, I have developed strong skills in classroom management, individualized instruction, and connecting with students of different ages and academic levels.
