Why They Want to Substitute Teach
I am interested in becoming a substitute teacher because I am currently pursuing my masterβs degree in Elementary Education at Winthrop University. I would love the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a school setting while applying the knowledge and skills I am developing through my graduate program. I believe substitute teaching would allow me to build meaningful connections with students, gain valuable classroom experience, and further develop my skills as a future educator. With five years of experience as a dance teacher, I am comfortable working with students of various ages, backgrounds, and learning abilities, and I am excited to bring that experience into an elementary school environment.
About Them
Hi! My name is Makayla, and I graduated from the University of South Carolina with a degree in Psychology and a minor in Counseling. I have loved dance my entire life and have been a dance teacher for the past five years. Through teaching, I have had the opportunity to work with students of many different ages, personalities, backgrounds, and abilities, and it has taught me just how important it is for students to have someone in their corner. Outside of teaching, I love to go on hikes and spend time with family and friends. I also love painting and anything involving plants I especially enjoy growing flowers and watching them bloom. I am a very interactive and hands-on person, and I love finding creative ways to make learning fun, engaging, and meaningful. One of the biggest things I believe is that every student has the ability to succeed and reach their goals. Sometimes, they just need someone to believe in them, encourage them, guide them, and be there to help them back up when things get difficult. That is the kind of person I hope to be for my students.Even if I am only in the classroom for one day as a substitute teacher, I want my students to feel seen, valued, and supported. I want them to know that someone believes in them and that their circumstances do not define what they are capable of. My goal is to create a positive environment where students feel comfortable being themselves, asking questions, trying new things, and knowing that I am there to support them every step of the way.
Experience with Children
I have been a dance teacher for five years, working with students of various ages, backgrounds, and skill levels. Through my experience, I have developed the ability to create a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment where every student feels encouraged to grow. I have taught a variety of dance styles and have worked with students with different learning needs and abilities. My experience has strengthened my communication, leadership, patience, creativity, and classroom management skills, all of which I believe are valuable in an educational setting.
