Why They Want to Substitute Teach

I’ve always felt comfortable in a school environment. Both of my parents are teachers, and I grew up attending Catholic school, so education has always been a big part of my life. After working as an aftercare counselor at St. Paul’s for almost four years, I realized how much I genuinely enjoy working with students. I love building relationships with kids, helping them when they need it, and being someone they feel comfortable around. Substitute teaching feels like a great opportunity to continue doing something I enjoy while gaining more experience in the classroom.

About Them

I’m very family oriented and spend a lot of my free time with my family and friends. I love reading, going to the beach, traveling, and trying new things. I’m pretty outgoing and enjoy meeting new people, but I’m also just as happy staying in with a good book. I’m a patient and understanding person, and I’ve always enjoyed working with kids and being someone they can feel comfortable around

Experience with Children

Babysitting Camp counselor After school programs Other childcare experience

I worked as an aftercare counselor at St. Paul’s in Jacksonville Beach for almost four years, where I supervised children, helped with homework and activities, managed different behaviors and conflicts, and made sure they were in a safe and positive environment. I also worked as an Activities Director at The Language Academy, where I planned activities and supervised groups of students. Between these positions, I’ve become very comfortable working with different ages, managing groups of children, and adapting to different needs. I also have a degree in Psychology with a minor in Child Welfare, which has given me a strong background in child development and behavior.
