Why They Want to Substitute Teach

I want to be a substitute teacher to ensure instructional continuity, maintain a safe classroom environment, and support students' daily academic growth. With experience in student teaching, instructional assistance, and special education support, I thrive on adapting to dynamic school settings. About Them

My worldview is grounded in the belief that every student carries a unique story and thrives when provided with empathy, community, and equitable support. As an M.Ed. candidate and active spoken word poet, I am passionate about creative writing, youth mentorship, and literacy. Outside the classroom, I enjoy coaching youth basketball, reading, and engaging in community advocacy.

Experience with Children

Over the past five years, my work with children has centered on creating inclusive, engaging, and structured environments where every student feels valued and supported. As a 9th-grade English student teacher at Fountain Valley High School, I designed Common Core ELA lessons, managed classroom operations, and provided targeted differentiation for diverse learners, including students with IEPs, 504 plans, and English Language Learners. My experience spans a variety of settings: serving as a Universal Instructional Aide implementing behavioral and academic interventions, an AVID Tutor facilitating Socratic inquiry groups, a K-8 substitute teacher, and a summer workshop instructor teaching creative writing. Additionally, leading workshops for youth with Tourette’s Syndrome has deepened my commitment to trauma-informed support and positive behavior reinforcement. Across all roles, I prioritize clear communication, empathy, and advocacy to help every child achieve academic and personal growth.
